Brewery of the Senses of the Murauer Beer
Experience the high standard of beer brewing
Since 1495, beer has been brewed in Murau. In 1995 the brewing museum was founded on the occasion of the 500-year celebration of the brewery. You have the chance to take a peaceful walk to the Brewery of the Senses from the Hotel Lercher along the Mur. It is only going to take you 10 minutes! The brewery is situated in an ancient and beautiful vaulted cellar. The exhibits and the intense smell of the raw ingredients provide a graceful atmosphere, which is going to turn everyone into a beer enthusiast. Most of the brewing devices are already more than 100 years old – especially interesting is the tour to a brewery dating back to the year 1912.
You have the possibility to receive an insight into the ancient high art of brewing in the museum. Highlights of the Brewery of the Senses include the “Schaubrauerei” (demonstration of the brewing process in a miniature display brewery).
After the excursion you are going to be spoiled with special dishes at the Lercher's Wirtshaus. You also have the chance to relax at the in-house wellness area. During the remaining days of your trip you are able to explore the hiking trails and cycling paths of the region.
