Friesach medieval town
The oldest town of Carinthia
The medieval town Friesach is located approx. 45 minutes by car from the Hotel Gasthof Lercher in Murau.
The medieval diocesan town Friesach, at the Carinthian-Styrian border, is the oldest town of Carinthia and is surrounded by the only completely intact moat of Austria.
The area offers a wonderful scenery for several medieval events at the foot of the castle complex Petersberg and the moat.
In the “Schaulager” (demonstration of early settlements) of the association “Mittelalterliches Friesach”, the medieval way of life is demonstrated. The fruit garden of the monastery turns into a medieval tent camp, which is inhabited by numerous medieval groups from Vienna, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol, Styria and Slovenia.
You have the chance to meet traders and craftsmen from all over the world at a big market place.
After the excursion you have the chance to relax at the in-house wellness area. Spoil yourself with a massage. You won’t get bored during the remaining days of your trip in the region Murau-Kreischberg. Numerous events promise great and exciting times.
